His birth date of 27th May 1907 is on Vaiśākha purnimā also popularly known as Buddha purnimā\, as the great Gautama Buddha was born on this same Vedic soli-lunar calendar day. \nSwami Hariharananda’s birthstar of Anuradha naxatra (a lunar asterism) accorded him a sweet endearing voice with a feminine quality\, typical of males born under this star. His Holiness is an ordained Himalayan Vedic monk\, who hails from unbroken lineages of the combined heritage of rishi sages and nath meditation adepts. He is among the very few available outside of India who has been awarded the degree of Mahāmahopādhyāy (DLitt et Phil) by the university system in India\, due to his scholarly and meditative interpretation of Sanskrit literature. \nMusic Performances\nThe tradition of Sanskrit indigenous knowledge is well known for its seamless integration of art and music with meditation and spirituality. It is in this light that we introduce two exquisite music maestros\, Dyuti Chakraborti and Sounak Chattopadhyay\, during our Sattwadharman livestream. These performances represent and showcase our Nonprofit’s ongoing work to build a music library that unfolds ancient Vedic classical music in the light of meditation. Drawing upon esoteric Sanskrit texts and manuscripts\, our monastic council of highly realized Vedic monks guides the conception\, recording and production of these music projects.  \nDyuti Chakraborti \nDyuti Chakraborti has practiced vocal music since childhood. She was initially trained in Hindustani classical music and traditional bhajan under the guidance of Sri Dwijen Bhattacharya\, the senior most disciple of Pt. Mohanlal Mishra & Pt. Rajan Sajan Mishra. She studied Padavali Kirtanam under the supervision of senior teacher Sri Monoranranjan Bhattacharya and Pt. Sri Nimai Mitra. Furthering her study\, she learnt Brij Lokgeet (Brij Folk) under the guidance of Sri Jagdish Brijwasi in addition to Srimad Bhagwat Mahapuran melodies under the guidance of Pt. Arvind Bhai Pandya Maharaj & His Holiness Abhay Charan Das Baba Maharaj. Ordained with various awards and scholarships\, she is a beloved and cherished traditional vocalist in India and abroad.  \nSounak Chattopadhyay\nSounak Chattopadhyay studied Hindustani Classical music from Ut Mashkoor Ali Khan and Mubarak Ali Khan of the Kirana Gharana and semi classical forms of music from Smt Sanjukta Ghosh. He began his training in Rabindrasangeet under Smt Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta and has been under the tutelage of the stalwart Pramita Mallick for the past 14 years. As a worldwide performer\, he combines the rare talent and skill of presenting both Rabindra-sangit and classical music with equal ease and dexterity. His experimental fusion works have been immensely popular and have received recognition as groundbreaking within the genre. He moved into the seat of Sanskrit learning\, Varanasi thereafter for his reclusive contemplation. He lived a uniquely monastic lifestyle in that he only took alms once a day and spent rest of his mornings and evening dedicated to the practice of higher yoga and deep study of advanced Sanskrit literature. Over time the families who invited him for once a day alms (lunch) swelled up to a thousand\, thereby making each family wait longer for his darshan and fellowship. \nHe was seen to exhibit extraordinary floating and swimming abilities while taking his daily ablutions in river Ganga. As he primarily walked everywhere and comforted all passersby with his compassion\, he became well known as Prabhuji (alike the Lord) of Varanasi. Even the irate bulls of Varanasi understood Prabhuji and yielded way to him whenever their paths crossed. \nAs part of the Hansavedas Monastic Council\, HH Swami Atmanananda maintained the Hari Bhawan Sanskrit Rare Books Library in Varanasi\, India. He was involved in the council over a period of two decades advising about the translation and research work on Sanskrit literature as well as assisting with the structure of holistic curriculum. \nMany devotees had the opportunity to travel to Varanasi\, India to sit at the feet of HH Swami Atmananda and often remarked that Prabhuji was an institution in himself. All devotees were impressed by the oratory skills of Prabhuji and how quickly he could spiritually resolve dilemmas. This special workshop is an opportunity for worship of the great Śrī śakti and veneration of the Divine Mother Kamalātmikā Mahālaxmī. \nParticipants will learn Srisuktam chanting under His Holiness’s guidance over the nine night period of Navarātri and ending on the tenth day. Experience\, memorize and practice Srisuktam from Rigveda as per the Himalayan śruti system of chanting that emphasizes pronouncing sound constructs by intently listening to the sound partitions\, orating them synchronized with breathing\, and correct application of timing. Intent listening and ability to repeat sounds will aid in memorizing the Srisuktam. \nA special way of empowering the Srisuktam using a samputi chanting method will be taught as per His Holiness’s lineage tradition. Experience an up close and beginner level hands on workshop on Himalayan siddha breathing techniques. Learn correct ujjāyī prāṇāyāma by feeling the pelvic floor and learn ujjāyī kumbhaka breathhold suspension. Practice this correct ujjāyī breathing utilizing the myofascial psoas\, a deep-seated band of muscle that connects the diaphragm\, spine and pelvis (as shown in the photo illustration above). \nYou will be taught this prāṇāyāma by activating the psoas in a way that allows for a three-dimensional cylindrical breathing. The breath is controlled by breathing from the core\, and prolonged using the ujjāyī method of inhalation. This thoraco-pelvic breathing allows one to feel the breath down to the pelvic floor. The diaphragm is properly utilized thereby releasing tension from the sternum. \nA practitioner of this ujjāyī prāṇāyāma technique takes a stepwise approach: (1) Activating the psoas during breathing\, (2) Feeling the breath down to the pelvis\, (3) Controlling the thoraco-pelvic breath from the core (five fingers below the belly-button)\, (4) making the breath deeper and prolonged by using the ujjāyī method\, (5) Applying kumbhaka breathhold for a suspension of the breath without struggle\, using the same singular effort used for the inhalation. As a warm up preparatory stretch to activate and balance the psoas\, simple yoga-vinyāsa selections from the Tāl̥āsanā krama such as stretching\, bending\, twisting\, half-squatting and full squatting will be practiced. \nCalmness is experienced during the breaths and during the pauses in between. The gentle guided movement of the spine and the sternum brings about emotional release.
