SUMMARY:Himalayan Siddha Pranayama for Stamina and Vitality
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”Register Online” style=”custom” custom_background=”#4e86c4″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eventbrite.com%2Fe%2Fhimalayan-siddha-pranayama-for-stamina-and-vitality-tickets-68090180563||target:%20_blank|”][vc_column_text]Join us for an immensely inspiring and life-enriching opportunity to learn esoteric Himalayan secrets on building stamina living with vitality. This workshop is designed to give intermediate level aspirants a framework for leading a clean lifestyle through prāṇāyāma techniques integrated with breathholds and locks\, while using green elixirs and other complementary dietary regimen. This is a great opportunity for those who already have an established practice of Ujjāyī prāṇāyāma to dive deeper into intermediate level integration invoking next level techniques. \nLearn how siddha adepts have refined and utilized a formula of prāņāyāma with locks and breathholds\, kāyākalpa herbs\, stimulation of stem cells and oxygen absorption to promote longevity and vitality. This workshop is designed for a modern day aspiring yogi to begin practicing the regimen of adepts residing deep in the mountainous caves and to learn about the practical applications. \nWhen it comes to vitality and life-enhancing herbs\, there is no rival to the kāyākalpa group of herbs. While individual use or simple combination of these potent herbs as tonics is proven to promote healthful vibrant life\, intricate combinations of these herbs and their administration in congruence with the prāņāyāma techniques using the locks and breathholds remain an esoteric\, anti-aging recipe. Such practices are only to be learnt from lineage-based nath siddha adepts. \nHis Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda will share in this workshop what the great nath siddha Goraxanath has revealed to him about herbal combinations that stimulate the release of stem cells. He will share from his own experience in the Himalayan Mountains\, the method by which the great siddhas utilize the stem cells for rejuvenation\, longevity and vitality. \nTopics covered:\n– Himalayan prāṇāyāma techniques with combination of internal locks (bandha)\n– Himalayan prāṇāyāma techniques with locks during breathholds (kumbhaka)\n– Himalayan prāṇāyāma techniques with locks\, breathholds\, and Oṃ sound striking\n– Unique brain alertness breathing technique of mūrchā-prāṇāyāma with Oṃ strikes\n– Breathwork to harness the kundalini life-energy\n– Overview of subtle dietary guidelines for yogic lifestyle\n– Understanding the entangled beings – guts and brain\n– Green elixirs and tonic potions for vitality and rejuvenation \nTeachers\nHis Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda is a yogi-monk who reveals to us rare prāṇāyāma and meditation techniques from the Himalayan siddha tradition. He hails from lineages of meditation adepts that are from a combined heritage of rishi sages and nath yogis. His Holiness will be assisted by Sister Girija during demonstrations and during warm-up practice of Tāl̥āsanā Yoga-vinyāsa-krama (YVK) postures. \nFood Guidelines\nEat light on Friday evening. Avoid mucous generating foods on Friday. Try to avoid breakfast on Saturday morning before coming to the Workshop. A light snack of fruit is acceptable. Taking only herbal tea is fine. For those with blood sugar issues\, we can provide an energy bar during the break. Practicing prāṇāyāma on an empty stomach is best\, as food in the stomach during practice may cause discomfort. If you absolutely need to eat fruits or take a drink\, please do so no later than 7:30am so you have ample time for digestion. One energy bar or a fruit per participant will be during the break. \nA delicious Ayurvedic vegetarian lunch (gluten-free and mostly vegan) will be served during the lunch break and is included in your registration. Green elixir recipe will be shared after the lunch break\, but this complex drink with intricate combination of special ingredients cannot be offered at this workshop. \n Pre-requisites for Attendance\nEstablished practice of yogic (ujjāyī) breathing\, known as the “breath of victory”\, or a regular practice of prāṇāyāma is required for attendance at this workshop. Ujjāyī or basic prāṇāyāma will not be taught at this workshop. If you are unsure if this Workshop is suitable for you please feel free to contact our main Nonprofit office at 909-543-6003. We would be happy to speak with you by phone to assess your readiness for this Workshop. \nThose who would like to review prāṇāyāma ahead of the workshop may do so by watching these free videos on pranayama which includes a summary and the expanded three-part video series on ujjāyī prāṇāyāma\, in addition to videos on āsana and definition of prāṇāyāma. \nKindly review the free videos on mindfulness practices\, especially on heartbeat Oṃ chanting. If you have either of these conditions please consult with your personal physician before planning to attend. During the workshop prāṇāyāma techniques which are not appropriate for those with hypertension will be noted by the Teacher so that you may abstain from practicing them. Children under the age of 18 years may be allowed to attend if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Attendance by those under the age of 18 must be pre-approved based on steady practice of ujjāyī prāṇāyāma. SUMMARY:Foundations of Himalayan Ujjayi Pranayama
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”Register Online” style=”custom” custom_background=”#4e86c4″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eventbrite.com%2Fe%2Ffoundations-of-himalayan-ujjayi-pranayama-tickets-68083809507||target:%20_blank|”][vc_column_text]Breathe the living breath of lifeforce! Experience an up close and beginner level hands on workshop on Himalayan siddha breathing techniques. Learn correct ujjāyī prāṇāyāma by feeling the pelvic floor and learn ujjāyī kumbhaka breathhold suspension. Practice this correct ujjāyī breathing utilizing the myofascial psoas\, a deep-seated band of muscle that connects the diaphragm\, spine and pelvis (as shown in the photo illustration above). \nYou will be taught this prāṇāyāma by activating the psoas in a way that allows for a three-dimensional cylindrical breathing. The breath is controlled by breathing from the core\, and prolonged using the ujjāyī method of inhalation. This thoraco-pelvic breathing allows one to feel the breath down to the pelvic floor. The diaphragm is properly utilized thereby releasing tension from the sternum. \nA practitioner of this ujjāyī prāṇāyāma technique takes a stepwise approach: (1) Activating the psoas during breathing\, (2) Feeling the breath down to the pelvis\, (3) Controlling the thoraco-pelvic breath from the core (five fingers below the belly-button)\, (4) making the breath deeper and prolonged by using the ujjāyī method\, (5) Applying kumbhaka breathhold for a suspension of the breath without struggle\, using the same singular effort used for the inhalation. As a warm up preparatory stretch to activate and balance the psoas\, simple yoga-vinyāsa selections from the Tāl̥āsanā krama such as stretching\, bending\, twisting\, half-squatting and full squatting will be practiced. \nCalmness is experienced during the breaths and during the pauses in between. The gentle guided movement of the spine and the sternum brings about emotional release. Practice of this correct breathwork is highly conducive for meditation\, vitality and wellness. \nA selection of the topics and techniques that will be covered includes: \n– Correct ujjāyī breathing from the core\n– Thoraco-pelvic psoas breathing\n– 3D cylindrical deep breathing\n– Breathing down to the pelvic floor\n– Yoga-vinyāsa selections from Tāl̥āsanā sequence to activate psoas\n– Breathold ujjāyī-kumbhaka in the same effort used for inhalation\n– Breathing synchronized with primordial sound of Oṃ chant \nTeachers\nHis Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda is a yogi-monk who reveals to us rare prāṇāyāma and meditation techniques from the Himalayan siddha tradition. He hails from lineages of meditation adepts that are from a combined heritage of rishi sages and nath yogis. His Holiness will be assisted by Sister Girija during teaching of ujjāyī breathing and Tāl̥āsanā Yoga-vinyāsa-krama (YVK) postures. \nPreparation before Attending this Workshop\nPrior understanding or practice of ujjāyī breathing\, known as the “breath of victory”\, will be very helpful. This internal breathing technique will also be taught during the workshop. If you are unfamiliar with ujjāyī\, we strongly urge you to familiarize yourself with this breathing technique ahead of the workshop by watching the video series on our multimedia website. \nPlease watch start by watching this video series on ujjāyī prāṇāyāma. (includes summary\, 3-video series and two additional videos on āsana and definition of prāṇāyāma). Read an article by His Holiness on deep core breathing. \nFood Guidelines\nEat light on Friday evening. Avoid mucous generating foods on Friday. If you absolutely need to eat a light breakfast\, please do so no later than 7:30am so you have ample time for digestion. \nParticipants will have the option to purchase lunch from the temple following the conclusion of the workshop. Participants are also welcome to pack a lunch and partake in their meal on the temple grounds after the workshop (only pure vegetarian food is allowed on temple premises). \nMedical Considerations\nPlease note that some of the breathing techniques taught in this workshop are not suitable for those with hypertension (high blood pressure) or persistent migraine headaches. If you have either of these conditions please consult with your personal physician before planning to attend. During the workshop prānāyāma breathholds or duration of breathhold which are not appropriate for those with hypertension will be noted by the Teacher so that you may abstain from practicing them.\n\nTeen Attendance\nChildren under the age of 18 years may attend if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. We do not recommend this Workshop for children under the age of 15. Please write to us if you have a particular inquiry. \nSupplementary Workbook\nThe supplementary workshop course material\, Lifeforce + Lifestyle – Workbook\, will be available at the workshop for a 20% discount. SUMMARY:Temple Worship and Learning Tradition in Ancient Education
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”Register Online” style=”custom” custom_background=”#4e86c4″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eventbrite.com%2Fe%2Ftemple-worship-and-learning-tradition-in-ancient-education-registration-68066716381||target:%20_blank|”][vc_column_text]We welcome His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda to Houston for a special presentation on indigenous education that has survived in India since ancient times due to the sequestered schooling environs of the inner courtyards of temples and monasteries. This traditional learning is based on integration of intentional temple worship rituals with accelerated memorization from whole-brain learning techniques while using breathing synchronized with hand and finger movements (hasta-swara). \nElements of this original system of accelerated learning were used in renowned universities of yore. These universities of ancient India seamlessly combined mathematics with meditation\, philosophy with music\, and yoga with art among many other interwoven diverse parts of the Sanskrit-based curriculum. Unfortunately\, the current education system has ignored the scientific value of this Sanskrit-based learning system and does not support the extant traditional education platforms. \nErstwhile colonial administration sponsored skewed studies to purposely misconstrue the cultural and historical heritage of India. Most important in this scheme was the deconstruction of the Sanskrit-based learning and educational heritage. \nThe ancient Vedic learning methods are nonlinear (exponential)\, promote accelerated learning and vastly improve memorization capacity. These methods have been practiced by generations of students to improve memory and preserve indigenous knowledge. Accelerated learning relies on combining sublime recitation with coordinated hand/finger movements and breathing techniques. Children who study in these parallel education system feel deeply inspired by whole-brain learning that bring about development of personality and graduation with values. \nHis Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda will share (1) the mystery of temple altars and the scientific value of worship rituals and (2) why chanting of verses that were memorized by heart is a hallmark of indigenous education for children and adults alike. At the end of the discourse he will show short videos from the inner courtyards temples and monasteries that bear testimony to this incredible surviving education system. \nDon’t miss this rare opportunity to experience authentic wisdom teachings\, Sanskrit chanting and a blessing line (darshan). \nHis Holiness is a Himalayan monk of the ancient Vedanta order\, who is a kriyāyogi and a meditation master from the combined heritage of rishi sages and nath yogis. He was awarded the degree of Mahāmahopādhyāya (DLitt et Phil) by the university system in India due to his scholarly and meditative interpretation of Sanskrit literature. He teaches cardinal philosophies of Vedanta\, Sankhya and Yoga with exquisite clarity and initiates seekers into Himalayan meditation techniques. He is the spiritual founder of Self Enquiry Life Fellowship and head of the Hansavedas Mission. \nA simple vegetarian supper prasāda will be offered following the discourse. \nKindly arrive early to check-in and be seated. Durga Bari has ample parking. \nEntrance is free with required registration\, but love donations to support the Houston fellowships are deeply appreciated.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Art and Practice of Higher Yoga
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”Register Online” style=”custom” custom_background=”#4e86c4″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eventbrite.com%2Fe%2Fart-and-practice-of-higher-yoga-registration-67794131071||target:%20_blank|”][vc_column_text]We heartily welcome you to join us on the opening weekend of His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda’s return to Houston. Blessing line (darśan) and a simple vegetarian supper prasāda will be offered after the conclusion of the discourse. \nHis Holiness will offer a discourse on the primary methods of achieving stillness which is a fundamental step of higher yoga and meditation. In this context he will discuss how the breath-led movement of yoga-vinyāsa\, devotional trance while singing\, after-effect poise of breathless chanting\, and sitting practice of meditation bring about tranquil states upon achieving the purification of the mind. \nHis Holiness will share how integrating breath-awareness while walking\, sitting\, and discharging duties bring about mindfulness and the attendant freedom from anxiety. Further\, he will talk about how loving feelings cultivated during the sacrifice of devotional service assist a devotee in an immersive experience in the moment. Both pressure from time and stress from striving are overcome through this sacrifice. Verily this results in feelings of unalloyed love when devotion is directed to Iśwara (God). \nPlease feel free to review the free videos on mindfulness practices on our multimedia website\, especially the first 12 episodes. \nHis Holiness is a Himalayan monk of the ancient Vedanta order\, who is a kriyāyogi and a meditation master from the combined heritage of rishi sages and nath yogis.
