His Holiness will offer prayers on everyone’s behalf to facilitate ascension of departed beings. \nSeptember 26th ushers in the fourth Navarātrī of the calendar year. Single days of special prayers related to the splendorous aspects of the Divine Mother divide the nine days (and nights) or navarātri meditation or worship. The nine-night periods are celebrated by practicing varying degrees of contemplation\, introspection\, meditation\, austerity\, rituals\, and by launching meaningful ventures. \nDuring four navarātri periods each year motherhood is honoured through a targeted spiritual penance. These time periods are considered to be the ideal times to participate in healing the earth through the meditation and worship of the Divine Mother – the great śakti. The culmination of this nine-night period ushers in daśamī or the tenth day of the ascending cycle of the Moon. It bears great significance for bringing to fruition a special personal triumph. \nHis Holiness will end the broadcast mentioning the significance of this Navarātrī and offer his blessings. This is often referred to as neo-Vedanta and can be far different from the original meaning and universal truths of Vedanta philosophy.  \nIn this half-day workshop on the auspicious descension day of Sri Radha\, His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda will introduce the technical terms (as opposed to literal) that are necessary to understand the Vedanta framework. He will draw upon a Sāṃkhya-yoga analytical method using relevant verses from the Veda that are essential as a prelude to Vedanta.\n \nHis Holiness will seamlessly combine the tenets from Vedic Samhitā and Brahmaṇa sections to lay the foundation for a deeper understanding of how to get into Upaniṣadic treatises. His insights into the meaning of Vedic Sanskrit tenets will shine through with direct quotes from the Veda and the cardinal philosophies.  \nIf you embrace Sanskrit-based study of cardinal philosophies through the traditional method of transmission\, there is a possibility that you will attain realization. The difficulty is finding surviving lineages with adepts able to teach Vedanta philosophy in the traditional way. Teachers hailing from these lineages are few and far between in the West.  \nEven in India – which in its heyday had great universities\, institutions\, and monasteries where travelers from around the world came to study Sanskrit-based spiritual philosophy – such adepts are rare nowadays. Taking the correct approach to invoke a meditation practice is the primary step to overcoming the impediments and their symptoms. As long as these symptoms linger\, the aspirant cannot breakthrough to attain a reposeful calm mind that allows one-pointed concentration. \nDestruction of the distractions (or impediments) and overcoming the symptoms of mental and physical disturbances allow for the mind to naturally attain steady concentration. When concentration is established\, the mind field (chitta) remains firm in the attained state and meditation is then said to be spontaneous and effortless. \nHis Holiness will explain the full meaning and Sage Vyasa’s commentary of Aphorism-31 in Chapter-1 from Patanjali Yogasutra to elaborate on each of the symptoms in a manner that allows the aspirant to grasp what thought waves and emotions are conducive for spiritual practice (sādhanā) and the fluctuations that obstruct the reflective clarity of meditative calmness. Examples of conducive thought waves include devotional thoughts\, right understanding of tenets of truth and affirmation of self-study. \nAny persistent practice of higher yoga or meditation will require an understanding of the distractions or impediments\, their symptoms that cloud the practitioner with sadness and dejection\, and the method of their stoppage by embracing the rectification. \nEach person is potentially divine. Divinity can be unraveled through mindful voluntary action related to higher yoga and meditation. Although godliness exists in potential form\, it needs a reason to express itself. Voluntary action needs to be effected mindfully to obtain desired results. If higher yoga is practiced voluntarily and diligently\, the practitioner may attain liberation even in a single lifetime. \nHis Holiness will deliver this discourse as a spiritual message and address the need of taking bonafide approaches for solving the dilemma or crisis\, rather than trying shortcut power-yoga or intellectually attractive methods of resolution that do not work. \nAdditionally\, feel the impact of sublime Sanskrit chanting and darshan blessings during the broadcast. This annual commemoration is an auspicious time for us to reflect on the Nonprofit’s impact and vision for the future\, and to honour and share our appreciation for each of you – seekers\, servers\, and devotees.  \nThe commemoration will conclude with a live congregation via Zoom video where His Holiness will be visible and will offer vespers\, intonate chanting and deliver a message relevant to this auspicious occasion and the current times.  \nThis is a new format which will blend a traditional livestream format with a Zoom fellowship so that participants will be able to see video of His Holiness and our Meditation Altar while joining alongside other seekers in our community with your own video on. This format allows His Holiness to see all participants and offer His blessings to you and your families on this occasion.  \nIn addition to the Zoom video congregation\, participants will have access to our Hansarūpin Online Commemoration Page\, an interactive webpage where we share a newly released video of an exquisite singing performance as well as ways to thoughtfully engage in the online commemorative celebration.  \nHonouring the power of our collective goodwill\, each registrant will have the opportunity to learn Sanskrit mantra to recite over the 4-day celebration. On Sunday\, participants can anonymously enter the number of recitations they have completed\, which will be included in an online counter\, so we can share in the divine momentum as a community.  \nThe Hansarūpin Online Commemoration Page with the Sanskrit mantra will be live starting at 2pm US PDT on Thursday\, 13th May. The login details to view the commemoration page will be shared with you by email.\n \nAxaya-tritiya Foundation Day\nAxaya-tritiyā\, which translates as the ‘imperishable third’\, falls on the third day of the ascending moon during the soli-lunar month of Vaisakha. The day is celebrated as the birthdays of supreme personality Lord Parashurāma and Sukrāchārya (Lord Venus). This day is even more significant to those who are interested in Jyotisha (science of light) as the day when great sage Bhrigu rishi completed his compendium on Jyotisha known as Bhrigu-samhitā. Every noble act on this day is said to be at least tripled in results and traditionally this day has been revered as one with immortal virtuosity. \nA closer look at the divine legacy of axaya-tritiyā reveals to us that all three events ascribed to this day are related to sage Bhrigu. While Venus (the ruling Lord of planet Venus) is hailed to be the son of sage Bhrigu\, Lord Parashurāma also descended in the familial lineage of sage Bhrigu. In the spiritual philosophy classic of Bhagavad-Gitā\, Lord Krishna declares that among the sages he is Bhrigu\, as it were\, thus conferring the highest seer status on sage Bhrigu. \nHansavedas curriculum (gurukulum) as per the monastic mission (Maṭha) was founded on this auspicious day of the year to render the wisdom teachings immortalized. This was effected as per the guidance by Lord Parashurāma who is the erstwhile satguru of the spiritual founder of Self Enquiry Life Fellowship\, HH Swami Vidyadhishananda. Further\, HH Swami Vidyadhishananda was born in the tutelage of sage Bhrigu rishi and thus hails from Bhrigu-gotra (lineage connected to a rishi sage). His Holiness has already received specific directions when he was revealed by the discourse of sage Bhrigu rishi to His son Lord Venus details of the Hansavedas mission. \nDetails on our Zoom Fellowship Set-up\nWe will be streaming live video via Zoom from Santa Barbara\, California on Sunday\, 16th May at 10:45am US PDT.
