During the registration process you will have the opportunity to reserve the session you plan to attend. \nAxaya-tritiyā Foundation Day\nAxaya-tritiyā\, which translates as the ‘imperishable third’\, falls on the third day of the ascending moon during the soli-lunar month of Vaisakha. The day is celebrated as the birthdays of supreme personality Lord Parashurāma and Sukrāchārya (Lord Venus). This day is even more significant to those who are interested in Jyotisha (science of light) as the day when great sage Bhrigu rishi completed his compendium on Jyotisha known as Bhrigu-samhitā. Every noble act on this day is said to be at least tripled in results and traditionally this day has been revered as one with immortal virtuosity. \nA closer look at the divine legacy of axaya-tritiyā reveals to us that all three events ascribed to this day are related to sage Bhrigu. While Venus (the ruling Lord of planet Venus) is hailed to be the son of sage Bhrigu\, Lord Parashurāma also descended in the familial lineage of sage Bhrigu. In the spiritual philosophy classic of Bhagavad-Gitā\, Lord Krishna declares that among the sages he is Bhrigu\, as it were\, thus conferring the highest seer status on sage Bhrigu. \nHansavedas curriculum (gurukulum) as per the monastic mission (Maṭha) was founded on this auspicious day of the year to render the wisdom teachings immortalized. This was effected as per the guidance by Lord Parashurāma who is the erstwhile satguru of the spiritual founder of Self Enquiry Life Fellowship\, HH Swami Vidyadhishananda. Further\, HH Swami Vidyadhishananda was born in the tutelage of sage Bhrigu rishi and thus hails from Bhrigu-gotra (lineage connected to a rishi sage). The great Lord Śiva is said to be dancing while sounding his drumbeat to the tune of dissolution. Divinity can be unraveled through mindful voluntary action related to Kriya Meditation. Although godliness exists in potential form\, it needs a reason to express itself. Experience an in-person workshop on Himalayan cleansing breathing techniques. Learn how to properly practice and differentiate the pranayama techniques of Kapālabhāti and Bhastrikā along with Agnisāra-dhauti and integrate them into your daily routine. These powerful techniques are energizing\, purifying\, revitalizing\, and cleansing. \nSelection of the topics and techniques that will be covered: \n– Brief review of Ujjāyī breathing from the core\n– Alternate nostril breathing for nāḍī cleansing\n– Review of sitting postures (āsana) for prāṇāyāma\n– Kapālabhāti pranayama vinyāsa\n– Bhastrikā pranayama vinyāsa\n– Agnisāra-dhauti (time permitting) \nGuidance about when to practice specific pranayama (breathing)\, and how to integrate these techniques into a daily routineThis workshop will be taught by nun\, yogin\, and pranayama expert Sadhvi Girija. She reveals to us rare prāṇāyāma and yoga-vinyāsa-krama techniques from the Himalayan siddha tradition which she directly learnt under the guidance of Himalayana siddha monk\, His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda. \nOrientation before Attending this Workshop \nPrior understanding and practice of Ujjāyī breathing\, known as the “breath of victory”\, is very helpful. This technique will be briefly reviewed during the workshop. We urge you to become familiar with this breathing technique ahead of the workshop by studying the materials listed below (all are free access).  \n1. Practice and learn more about ujjayi breathing with this six-part video series\n2. Review how breathing is combined with steadiness and comfort of āsana sitting\n3. Read an article by His Holiness on deep core breathing \nFood Guidelines \nAvoid mucous generating (mucogenic) foods two days (48 hours) prior to Saturday\, 20th August. Avoid eating at least 4 hours before the Workshop and make yourself feel light and agile. Supper that you have the day before the workshop should be light. You should feel slightly hungry by the time you check in at the Workshop by 9:00am. Practicing breathing and pranayama on an empty stomach is best\, as food in the stomach during practice will cause discomfort. Fruits and herbal tea are acceptable snacks. For those who are sensitive to a drop in sugar\, a handful of nuts is an acceptable snack. Fresh fruit will be available during the break and an energy bar provided at the end of the Workshop. \nPreparation and What to Bring \nArrive at 9am to check-in\, use the restroom and get settled before instruction begins promptly at 9:30am. Bring a yoga mat and meditation cushion with you. If you do not have a yoga mat and cushion you can bring 2 blankets and/or towels (one to place underneath your sitting area and one for rolling as an elevated seat cushion). Due to the cleansing nature of the techniques\, you may experience expelling of mucous\, plan to bring a handkerchief or suitable cloth. There is firstly the warning given by the satguru (meditation-master) or the Iṣta (chosen deity of swādhyāya) of the impending difficulty or danger. Then as the divine relationship intensifies\, the invisible result arises\, through which an aspirant gains the aiśvarya – the occult powers that render the aspirant infallible and bold in the outer world. The last result of the special blessings is known as krama-mukti or release from misery by successive steps of spiritual progress wherein the aspirant is gifted with intuition of correct knowledge. \nHis Holiness will explain the correct interpretation and meaning with reference to Sage Vyasa’s commentary of Aphorism-44 in Chapter-2 from Patanjali Yogasutra. He will discourse on what happens when there is communion with higher beings. The heavenly beings\, sages and celestials become palpable to the aspirant and the yogin’s noble aspirations are fulfilled. Invocation of God made sometimes earnestly during troubles\, but otherwise mechanically with the mind preoccupied with worldly affairs does not produce these breakthrough experiences. \nEach person is potentially divine. Divinity can be unraveled through mindful voluntary action related to higher yoga and meditation. Although godliness exists in potential form\, it needs a reason to express itself. Voluntary action needs to be effected mindfully to obtain desired results. If higher yoga is practiced voluntarily and diligently\, the practitioner may attain liberation even in a single lifetime. \nHis Holiness will deliver this discourse as a spiritual message and address the need of taking bonafide approaches for solving the dilemma or crisis\, rather than trying shortcut power-yoga or intellectually attractive methods of resolution that do not work. \nAdditionally\, feel the impact of sublime Sanskrit chanting and darshan blessings during the broadcast. The object can be either God or the I-sense that is felt as the substratum of all experiences. \nSorrow\, frustration and accompanying palpable symptoms of mental and physical disturbances are the symptoms of distractions that accompany the nine major impediments to meditation. Taking the correct approach to invoke a meditation practice is the primary step to overcoming the impediments and their symptoms. As long as these symptoms linger\, the aspirant cannot breakthrough to attain a reposeful calm mind that allows one-pointed concentration. \nDestruction of the distractions (or impediments) and overcoming the symptoms of mental and physical disturbances allow for the mind to naturally attain steady concentration. When concentration is established\, the mind field (chitta) remains firm in the attained state and meditation is then said to be spontaneous and effortless. \nHis Holiness will explain the correct interpretation and meaning with reference to Sage Vyasa’s commentary of Aphorism-32 in Chapter-1 from Patanjali Yogasutra \nExamples of conducive thought waves include devotional thoughts\, right understanding of tenets of truth and affirmation of self-study. The login details to view the commemoration page will be shared with you by email.\n \nAxaya-tritiya Foundation Day\nAxaya-tritiyā\, which translates as the ‘imperishable third’\, falls on the third day of the ascending moon during the soli-lunar month of Vaisakha. The day is celebrated as the birthdays of supreme personality Lord Parashurāma and Sukrāchārya (Lord Venus). This day is even more significant to those who are interested in Jyotisha (science of light) as the day when great sage Bhrigu rishi completed his compendium on Jyotisha known as Bhrigu-samhitā. Every noble act on this day is said to be at least tripled in results and traditionally this day has been revered as one with immortal virtuosity. \nA closer look at the divine legacy of axaya-tritiyā reveals to us that all three events ascribed to this day are related to sage Bhrigu. While Venus (the ruling Lord of planet Venus) is hailed to be the son of sage Bhrigu\, Lord Parashurāma also descended in the familial lineage of sage Bhrigu. In the spiritual philosophy classic of Bhagavad-Gitā\, Lord Krishna declares that among the sages he is Bhrigu\, as it were\, thus conferring the highest seer status on sage Bhrigu. \nHansavedas curriculum (gurukulum) as per the monastic mission (Maṭha) was founded on this auspicious day of the year to render the wisdom teachings immortalized. This was effected as per the guidance by Lord Parashurāma who is the erstwhile satguru of the spiritual founder of Self Enquiry Life Fellowship\, HH Swami Vidyadhishananda. His Holiness is an ordained Himalayan Vedic monk\, who hails from unbroken lineages of the combined heritage of rishi sages and nath meditation adepts. Rajan Sajan Mishra. She studied Padavali Kirtanam under the supervision of senior teacher Sri Monoranranjan Bhattacharya and Pt. Sri Nimai Mitra. Furthering her study\, she learnt Brij Lokgeet (Brij Folk) under the guidance of Sri Jagdish Brijwasi in addition to Srimad Bhagwat Mahapuran melodies under the guidance of Pt. Ordained with various awards and scholarships\, she is a beloved and cherished traditional vocalist in India and abroad.  \nSounak Chattopadhyay\nSounak Chattopadhyay studied Hindustani Classical music from Ut Mashkoor Ali Khan and Mubarak Ali Khan of the Kirana Gharana and semi classical forms of music from Smt Sanjukta Ghosh. We will be streaming live from Santa Barbara\, California.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\nRemembering HH Swami Atmananda\nSwami Atmananda took his monastic vows from Swami Maheshananda Giri in 1968 and joined the Giri order of Vedic monks. He moved into the seat of Sanskrit learning\, Varanasi thereafter for his reclusive contemplation. He lived a uniquely monastic lifestyle in that he only took alms once a day and spent rest of his mornings and evening dedicated to the practice of higher yoga and deep study of advanced Sanskrit literature. Over time the families who invited him for once a day alms (lunch) swelled up to a thousand\, thereby making each family wait longer for his darshan and fellowship. \nHe was seen to exhibit extraordinary floating and swimming abilities while taking his daily ablutions in river Ganga. As he primarily walked everywhere and comforted all passersby with his compassion\, he became well known as Prabhuji (alike the Lord) of Varanasi. Even the irate bulls of Varanasi understood Prabhuji and yielded way to him whenever their paths crossed. \nAs part of the Hansavedas Monastic Council\, HH Swami Atmanananda maintained the Hari Bhawan Sanskrit Rare Books Library in Varanasi\, India. He was involved in the council over a period of two decades advising about the translation and research work on Sanskrit literature as well as assisting with the structure of holistic curriculum. \nMany devotees had the opportunity to travel to Varanasi\, India to sit at the feet of HH Swami Atmananda and often remarked that Prabhuji was an institution in himself. All devotees were impressed by the oratory skills of Prabhuji and how quickly he could spiritually resolve dilemmas.
