This is a special opportunity to join two sessions of our Hansacharaņam Retreat from your own home. \nHis Holiness will speak in two class sessions about the force of karma (both stale and fresh)\, our momentum behind birth\, latent impressions of actions (karmāśaya) causing rebirth\, role of subtle desires (vāsanā) in creating a field of experiences\, our right to results of actions if at all\, how to remove afflictions\, mindful service as in dharma\, and burning the seeds of karma. Every noble act on this day is said to be at least tripled in results and traditionally this day has been revered as one with immortal virtuosity. \nA closer look at the divine legacy of axaya-tritiyā reveals to us that all three events ascribed to this day are related to sage Bhrigu. While Venus (the ruling Lord of planet Venus) is hailed to be the son of sage Bhrigu\, Lord Parashurāma also took birth in the familial lineage of sage Bhrigu. In essence the day is a divine remembrance of sage Bhrigu who is hailed in the Sanskrit lore as the one with sārupya-moxa or the great seer (rishi) who can imitate and look like the compassionate overlord of our solar system! Join us for a Himalayan Chanting Workshop to learn the basics of Sanskrit mantra chanting using auditory techniques (śruti) directly taught by His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda. This is a rare opportunity to learn from the very best authentic source and tradition\, as His Holiness is renowned for his chanting expertise. \nExperience and practice mantras as per the Himalayan system of chanting that emphasizes pronouncing sound constructs by intently listening to the sound partitions\, orating them synchronized with breathing\, and correct application of timing. Knowledge of Sanskrit letters or language is not a prerequisite. Attentive hearing and ability to repeat sounds will aid in memorizing. \nParticipants will learn both Vedic and Tantric mantra on lamp lighting and lamp extinguishing\, using the correct cadence and voice tonality\, as an appeasement to fire. Synchronizing the mantras with breathing rhythm as well as their breathless chant versions will be taught. The class will include practicing and orating a Sanskrit peace chant at various levels of difficulty. Other auspicious invocations to remove obstacles will also be taught using the same foundational techniques. \nAn Ayurvedic snack will be served following the chanting practice at the end of the workshop. This gathering is a time-honoured traditional fellowship where devotees make offerings from their hearts and the choicest blessings are bestowed by the lineage of spiritual masters. \n \nWe encourage and welcome you to bring your families and children. Some sessions with His Holiness will be appropriate for children\, but there will also be the option for children aged 3-12 to participate in special children’s activities. To learn more about bringing your children and teens please read the sections below labeled “Children’s Camp” and “Teenage Participants”. \nThis retreat offers a balanced curriculum of fellowship teachings\, blessing line\, organic food\, yoga and breathwork practice. Those participants wishing to rejuvenate through personal silence will have an opportunity to do so\, as there will be a designated silent dining section and teaching areas are kept mostly silent. \nThe retreat is designed keeping in mind the need for parents to spend a summertime mini-vacation with their family while exposing their children to a divine ambiance. The retreat schedule allows families and friends to spend time together in open spaces and green lawns of a university campus and share meals outdoors. \nThe children’s camp is designed to help parents manifest a family experience within the limitations of the venue\, volunteering and other resources. While the children’s camp allows for parents to attend classes and sessions\, it is not designed to completely free up parent(s) from their own initiative to look after and interact with their children. The Children’s Camp sessions will coincide with certain class sessions for adults on the schedule\, but children will eat all meals and snacks with their parents and will stay with their parents in the apartments.
