Single days of special prayers related to the splendorous aspects of the Divine Mother divide the nine days (and nights) or navarātri meditation or worship. The nine-night periods are celebrated by practicing varying degrees of contemplation\, introspection\, meditation\, austerity\, rituals\, and by launching meaningful ventures. \nDuring four navarātri periods each year motherhood is honoured through a targeted spiritual penance.
