Learn about the four main paths of higher yoga\, mantra-yoga\, laya-yoga\, haṭha-yoga and rāja-yoga\, as expounded in the extant Sanskrit literature. In this context\, His Holiness will enlighten the gathering about the traditional meditation approaches of these four paths and if and how they are interconnected. The discourse will address – can haṭha-yoga be practiced without recourse to rāja-yoga and vice-versa? \nHis Holiness will also discuss how the Himalayan Kriya Meditation system of Tryambaknath (Mahavatar babaji) is divided into four main paths of kriya-mantra\, kriya-laya\, kriya-vinyāsa and kriya-yoga\, and if such a division is at all related to the traditional four main paths of higher yoga. He will share how the Himalayan nath yogis use the integrated kriya system based on the foundations of higher yoga and meditation. \nHis Holiness will reveal a brief history of Yoga based on the ancient Sanskrit texts. In this regard\, he will talk about the ancient references of Hiranyagarbha-Śāstra as the foundational text on Yoga\, the historicity of Patañjali Yogasutra\, and how the compilation of Yogasutra came to be in its current form. \nA blessing line (darshan) will be offered after the conclusion of the discourse and a short guided meditation. \nHoliness is a Himalayan monk of the ancient Vedanta order\, who is a kriyāyogi and a meditation master from the combined heritage of rishi sages and nath yogis. He was awarded the degree of Mahāmahopādhyāy (DLitt et Phil) by the university system in India due to his scholarly and meditative interpretation of Sanskrit literature. He teaches cardinal philosophies of Vedanta\, Sankhya and Yoga with exquisite clarity and initiates seekers into Himalayan meditation techniques. He is the spiritual founder of Self Enquiry Life Fellowship and head of the Hansavedas Mission. \nfellowship will begin at 6:30pm at Pralaya Yoga Studio (2303 Dunlavy St\, Houston\, TX 77006).
